High Commissioner called on H.E. Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, Governor of Kisumu County on 30 July 2026. They discussed strengthening India–Kisumu partnership through greater Indian investments, including in the hospitality sector, opportunities in Lake Victoria maritime transport and the blue economy, healthcare, agriculture, skills and capacity building, and expanding trade, investment and people-to-people ties between India and Kisumu.
High Commissioner called on H.E. Dr. Wilber K. Ottichilo, Governor of Vihiga County on 30 July 2026. They discussed opportunities to deepen India–Vihiga cooperation in vocational training, education, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, digital solutions, and capacity building, while exploring avenues to leverage India’s development partnership for the county’s growth and skills development.
Governor also accompanied High Commissioner on field visits to VTRH Hospital Plaza and the proposed Calibration Centre, Magaka Smart ECDE Classroom, and Gimomoi Vocational Training Centre.
High Commissioner called on H.E. Simba Arati, Governor of Kisii County, on 31 July 2026 and held productive discussions on strengthening India-Kisii cooperation in agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, skills development and capacity building. They also discussed the significant contribution of the Indian diaspora to Kisii’s economy and explored opportunities to deepen partnerships in trade, investment and sustainable development for the benefit of the people of Kisii.
High Commission organized an engaging Business Dialogue in Kisumu to explore new opportunities to strengthen India and Kenya trade and investment ties.
High Commissioner delivered the keynote address, while Mr. Israel Agina, Chairperson, KNCCI Kisumu Chapter, gave remarks on behalf of the business community. Over 60 leading members of Kisumu’s business community attended the event. The programme featured a presentation on India’s economic transformation, opportunities in India’s GIFT city for HNIs among OCI / NRIs, potential sectors for Kisumu businesses to engage with Indian companies, and financing avenues under India’s operational Line of Credit for SMEs through Kenya Development Cooperation (KDC). An interactive Q&A followed by candid one-on-one conversations with participants allowed the High Commissioner to hear their ideas, queries and suggestions, reaffirming our shared commitment to fostering stronger business partnerships between India and Kisumu.
High Commissioner visited the Kibos Sugar & Allied Industries Ltd. in Kisumu, a leading Indian diaspora-owned enterprise that exemplifies the depth of India-Kenya economic partnership.
With significant investments, hundreds of local jobs, and state-of-the-art machinery sourced from India, the company is a strong example of industrial collaboration between our two countries.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in the sugar sector through technology transfer, skills development, capacity building, and adoption of modern industrial practices. The High Commissioner also appreciated Kibos’ circular economy model, where by-products such as molasses and bagasse are converted into ethanol, fertilisers, paper products and other value-added products, ensuring minimal waste and greater sustainability.
High Commissioner interacted with members of the Indian community in Kisii on 31 July 2026 during a vibrant town hall meeting. He briefed the community on the growing India–Kenya partnership, India’s rapid economic transformation, and the Government of India’s latest initiatives for the Indian diaspora, including enhanced consular and citizen-centric services. The interactive session also provided an opportunity to address a wide range of consular queries, hear suggestions from community members, and discuss ways to further strengthen engagement between the High Commission and the diaspora.
