Paryatan Parv 2017 in Kenya

          On 24 October 2017, High Commission of India in Nairobi organized an event in Nairobi to celebrate the ongoing ‘Paryatan Parv’ (Tourism Festival) and to promote people-to-people contacts between India and Kenya. 

2.         In her opening remarks, High Commissioner Ms. Suchitra Durai highlighted India’s cultural diversity, opportunities in the Indian tourism industry, Ministry of Tourism’s flagship programmes - Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD as well as India’s liberalization of visa rules particularly e-visa facility and initiatives such as tourist helpline number and medical and wellness tourism. The High Commissioner appreciated the steady increase in number of visitors from Kenya to India as well as from India to Kenya. 

3.        The event included detailed presentations on the State of Maharashtra by Mr. Sandesh Parab, General Manager of Mahindra & Mahindra and on the State of Goa by Mr. Piety Celestino Goes. The presentations covered culture, cuisine, trade & industry, medical and educational facilities and opportunities in tourism sector in these two states. Short films on the city of ‘Mumbai’ (Incredible India); ‘Maharashtra Unlimited’ (MTDC Investment) and ‘Go Goa – a perfect holiday destination’ (Department of Tourism of Goa) were screened on the occasion. A small exhibition based on the tourism material regarding Paryatan Parv was displayed and brochures on Incredible India were distributed. 

4.         The event was attended by representatives of tour operators, airlines operating commercial flights to India including Kenya Airways, Rwanda Air, Air Arabia and Oman Air; representatives from Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO), Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA), opinion makers, captains of Kenyan industry of Indian community associations and prominent PIOs.
