Celebrations of 70th Independence of India in Nairobi

The 70thIndependence Day of India was celebrated on 15 August 2016 in Nairobi with traditional enthusiasmand new vigour. High Commissioner Ms. SuchitraDurai unfurled the national flag at the India House. On this occasion, the National Anthem and patriotic songs were sung by the members of Kenbharati Association and the Hindi Samiti of East Africa. Renowned Kashmiri singer, Dr. DeepaliWattal sang patriotic songs and documentaries celebrating the 70th Independence Day of India were screened.

2. The High Commissioner read out the President’s Address to the Nation on the eve of the Independence Day. Around 350 people including members of the Indian community and friends of India attended the function.
