The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme, ITEC
The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme, ITEC for short, is the leading capacity
building platform instituted by Government of India in 1964, having trained more than 200,000 officials from 160+ countries in Asia, Africa, East Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean as well as Pacific and Small Island countries in both the civilian and in the defence sector since 2014. ITEC has offered close to 100,000 world-class capacity building trainings and scholarships at premier institutions in India, along with a chance to experience India's rich culture and hospitality.
ITEC is administered by the Development Partnership Administration-II Division of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) through its Missions abroad.
ITEC utilizes a bouquet of varied modalities to meet its mandate of capacity building. The training
programmes are available in following formats :
ITEC also offers customised training in specific areas of governance, apart from regular calendar-
based training programmes. The courses are designed and delivered by the leading institutions in
India that are based on country-specific requests. ITEC also supports mid-career training of civil
servants from interested partner countries.
