Press release: Repatriation flight for Indians stranded in Kenya

            234 stranded Indians will avail the Air India repatriation flight on Friday 5 June on Nairobi-Mumbai-Delhi sectors, arranged by the Government of India in its elaborate Vande Bharat Mission. The same flight in its onward journey on Mumbai-Nairobi sector will also bring stranded Kenyan nationals from India, including the students who went for short term courses under India’s ITEC programme and got stranded due to Covid 19. The repatriation flight from Nairobi will have passengers belonging to many Indian states.

            Government of India, under its Vande Bharat Mission, has reached out to stranded and distressed Indians in different parts of the world to facilitate their return. In its first phase 13750 Indians have returned to India from 12 Countries in 64 repatriation flights. The Nairobi-Mumbai-Delhi flight is under the Phase-2 of the mission which is currently underway. This phase is expected to bring back nearly 59000 Indians by as many as 311 flights from Africa, Middle east, CIS, Europe, East Europe, South East Asia, South Asia, East Asia, UK, Russia , Australia, New Zealand, US and Canada till 17th June 2020.
